Recap 2006-2007 Year

We had a great year. Our spring musical, Merrily We Roll Along was a wonderful production which was nominated for 15 Cappie Awards. The  fall production of Harvey was a huge success and a lot of fun. Check out the photos from  both shows. In addition, we had an entertaining night of  One Night Only! We also had a lot of fun at the night of the student produced play and improv -  Wednesday Night Live!

Students participated and won awards in the Maryland State Theater Festival, the Howard County Theater Festival and the Shakespeare Festival at Folgers Theater where they performed an abbreviated version of King Lear. Students also participated in a special Theater Tech Workshop held at the Olney Theater. As a group we went to New York and saw the energizing A Chorus Line.

At the Grand Finale, our banquet and awards ceremony, we said good-bye to a group of seniors who will be sorely missed and ushered in a new group of students into the International Thespian Society. Overall it was a fantastic year. The Boosters sponsored extremely successful Christmas Wreath  and Flower & Plant Sales and two restaurant fundraisers. We bought new microphones for the Drama department and, through additional contributions, were able to purchase a new spotlight, custom built costume closets, computer upgrades, and a DVD camera. Boosters' support has grown tremendously and continues to involve more and more parents. A new board was elected along with new Co-Presidents. The position of Vice President remains open so that a parent who will be able to continue parent support for the Boosters into the 2008-2009 year can step into this role. If you are interested in learning more about this position please contact Cathy or Robyn the new Co-Presidents.

None of this could have happened if students, parents, and the Atholton High School Drama Director, Mr. Nathan Rosen did not work together in a collaborative effort. New parents join us. Now, we begin planning for next year....

Thank you to everyone who devoted their time, energy, and creativity. And a special Thank You to all of the parents and amazing students who have made my years as President of the Drama Boosters so fantastic. I will miss you all.

Stephanie Gurwitz Zurier                     Drama Boosters President ( and former Chairperson) 2004-2007
