Marching Band Calendar
2007

Hello Marching Raiders, Friends and Families,

SUMMERTIME AND THE LIVING IS EASILY..... so easy the Marching Camp has snuck up on us and it's right around the corner!  Hope you got lots of rest, relaxation and fun in the last nearly two months because the work starts Monday.

The 2007 Marching Raider Band Camp starts Monday, August 13th at 9:00 (remember Marching Band time - get there at 8:30 so all of your prep is done and you are at attention at 9:00)

Come to band camp prepared.  That means -

Have a full belly - a nutritious, filling breakfast - you will need it

Sunscreen - in a bottle and applied to all of your exposed skin.  Plan to reapply at lunchtime.

Music (Fight Song, Star Spangled Banner (Smith), Show Music)

A Baseball Style Hat - with a brim going in one direction

Sneakers (or marching shoes from last year) and socks - NO FLIP FLOPS

Dot Book - very small spiral notebook (around 4" x 5" or so) with a long string running through the rings

Pencil

Lunch/snacks - label it

Water, water, water, water - I can't say it enough "WATER"

Rain gear and a change of clothes - just in case

 FORMS:

Data Sheet (if you did not turn it in at spring rehearsal - See Drum Majors if unsure) form is attached to this e-mail. Due Monday

Medical Form and copy of insurance card - this is a new form and an electronic copy is not available yet.  We will have copies available on Monday - please return it as soon as possible.  The front of the form does not require a physician's signature  If your child requires medication, the back of the form addresses that issue and a medical practioner must sign this. If there are any questions or concerns about this please contact me. Please note no medications will be given (even tylenol) without the signature of a medical practioner.

 Money:

$10 for the show shirt - students will receive this during the second week of Band Camp

$30 for uniform rental  (does not apply to guard)

$30 (or $60) for marching shoes - this year we will use both white and black shoes  Students with clean, well-fitting white shoes do not need to order new white shoes but will still need to order new black shoes. (does not apply to guard)

$5 for gloves

When paying, checks can be made out the the AHS Music Boosters.  Please indicate what the check is for (on the memo line) For example: Bryan Righter - show shirt, uniform rental, shoes X2. If you are sending cash PLEASE put it in an envelope with this information on the envelop.  We really want to credit the students properly but it gets really hard with so many different fees.

Alright - we are ready!  Band Camp is a very exciting time for all the students, new and old, but it can be sort of confusing as well.  Please do not hesitant to contact your section leaders if you have questions.  Warren and I are also available to answer any questions.  We can be reached at 301-604-9171 or swrighter@msn.com.

 Good Luck, Work Hard, Enjoy!

Sue and Warren
